New Year’s International Rover Week @ KISC
This Summer, after the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden, the Kandersteg International Scout Centre organised its first International Rover Week to carry over some international spirit from Rinkaby to the campsite in Kandersteg. 37 Rovers from 9 countries participated in it, the week turned out to be a true success. So successful in fact that KISC is now hosting another International Rover Week, but this time not in the Summer heat, but in more chilly temperatures in Winter.
The New Year’s International Rover Week, open for all Scouts and Guides between 18 and 30 years, members of a National Scout Organisation recognized by WOSM or WAGGGS, will take place from December 27th 2011 to January 2nd 2012. Participation is possible both for individuals and for groups. During their stay, participants will be offered a wide range of Winter activities , amongst others a hike’n’sled to Gemmipass, a sauna evening, an international campfire in the snow and a New Year’s eve celebration together with other guests and the Pinkies. Additionally there’s also occasions to book your own, personal programme activities. The participating scouts will be lodged in the Old Chalet for their 6 overnights and have full board, a Winter barbecue, special meals on Swiss Culture Night and New Year’s eve and the programme set by the Centre included in the price of 300 CHF (approx. 245 €).
The number of participants had to be limited to 40 people and the New Year’s International Rover Week can only take place if at least 10 people apply. KISC also reserves the right to refuse participants or to limit the amount of participants from one country, if too many people from the same country apply, in order to ensure the cultural diversity of the event. The aim is to offer an international experience to Rovers, Rangers and leaders from all over the world and let them experience border-crossing friendships while living a Winter dream in the middle of the Swiss Alps.
Interested people can apply for KISC’s New Year’s International Rover Week until November 14th by sending the application form to pr@kisc.ch. More information can be found on the KISC website in the event section, or simply by clicking here.
The entire KISC Staff team is looking forward to welcoming you in Kandersteg on December 27th!
