Algerian National Scout Day celebrations

The closing day of the Euro-Arab meeting coincided with the Algerian national scout day celebrations. After an interactive session on different support programmes, participants of the 9th Euro Arab meeting met to discuss the final declaration of the meeting. The document recommends the European and Arab Regional Committees, the National Scout Organization of both regions as well as every single participant to remain active on the subject of interregional Youth Exchanges.

Among others, next steps will be to continue the effort of a mapping of existing exchanges and partnerships and to evaluate options to use Internet and Social Media more actively to promote regional, national and local events and projects.

Furthermore the declaration recommends to establish an efficient process of evaluation for the meetings’ outcomes, and to actively use the funding resources that are already available at local, national, regional and World level. A presentation by the directors of the Arab and European Regional offices on this subject forcefully demonstrated the full variety of available funding options, including for example the Euromed Programme.

Participants at the meeting used the event to share ideas about new joint projects, about concrete Youth Exchanges and Training opportunities, and to plan the next steps for existing partnerships such as the Algerian-French and Danish-Tunisian collaborations.

Participants finally warmly accepted the offer of Italy to host the 10th Euro-Arab meeting in 2013.
