Bulgarian Scouts Looking for Volunteers!
The Organization of Bulgarian Scouts is looking for a volunteer (between 18 and 30 years of age) with Scouting background and experience for a period of ten to twelve months in Varna, Bulgaria.
In the framework of a European Voluntary Service project, the successful candidate will be closely involved with activities for Cubs (7 to 11 years old) and Scouts (12 to 16 years old) at the local level and help with the development and running of Leader training at the national level.
Relevant experience as a Leader and Leader Trainer is therefore essential and good communication and presentation skills will be helpful to support the Organisation of Bulgarian Scouts in its efforts to review and adjust its educational and leader training systems. It is hoped that the EVS volunteer’s work and support will contribute to the further development of Scouting in Bulgaria and to creating better Scouting for more young Bulgarians in Varna and across the country.
Sharing educational and training experience as well as best practices will be an important aspect of the volunteer’s activities. Excellent knowledge of English is essential.
Other essentials include:
- Be creative and dynamic
- Have a positive attitude and ability to problem solving
- Be predisposed to establish contact and engage in dialogue with young people
- Have good interpersonal and team-working skills
- Have good communication, presentation and training skills
- Be accustomed to autonomy in the daily life and willing to share living with other volunteers
- Be open minded and culturally sensitive
In return for the volunteer services, the project will offer:
- A language course
- Free accommodation (single room in shared apartment) and food
- Pocket money
- A 90% refund of travel expenses between country of residence and Varna
