(Cardedeu/FCEG) – For the first time in recent history, more than 2300 Scouts and Guides of the Venture Scout section (14-17 years of age) of the three Catalan Guide and Scout associations came together on the last weekend of April 2013 in Cardedeu and engaged in a series of community service activities. TroPiCat 2013 was part of the unity process that the Catalan Federation of Scouting and Guiding (FCEG) is currently undergoing.

Under the heavy rain, the Guides and Scouts planted their tents and joined one of the one hundred small mixed groups, which then engaged in discovery activities in the village. After the dinner a night activity and a concert closed the first day.

On the second day, the participants joined again their small groups. This time it was for different service and learning activities, such as forest cleaning, rehabilitation of schools, social theatre, or animal protection. The event closed with a popular lunch and a big barbecue.

Many participants will share the remarks of Raül Molina, International Commissioner of FCEG: “TroPiCat was a very emotive gathering, with all those 2300 Venture Scouts and Guides together, from all corners of Catalonia and from three different Scout Associations, demonstrating that they, the young generation, can really contribute to creating a better world!”
