We only have one planet.  You can help protect it. Participate in the world’s largest single campaign for the planet: Earth Hour on Saturday 31st March 2012 from 20.30 to 21.30, this will be the Earth Hour 2012.
For one hour, millions of people across the world will turn off their lights at those hours and World Scouting joins in our continued to support to this initiative. WOSM invites all Scouts around the world to join this global initiative by turning off your lights and taking part in activities that demonstrate your concern for the environment.

Spread the word around to your fellow Scouts, family, friends, community groups you are part of, and participate in the Earth Hour by turning off lights wherever you are for that one hour. In the past, Scout Groups have organised: a campfire evening; group discussions on environment issues followed by a candle-lit dinner; an eco-friendly overnight camp; etc. Share your stories on our facebook page as comments to our Earth Hour post. If you have photos or an interesting example of how you celebrated Earth Hour with your Scouts, email us the photos and a brief description of what you did and we will help share your story with other Scouts around the World.

The Secretary General of WOSM, Luc Panissod, has participated in this year’s Earth Hour campaign, the ‘I WILL IF YOU WILL’ challenge. Click on the video below to view his challenge and add your own, or just support other challenges by accepting to do something new in your daily life for the environment to help create a better world

There are lots of ways you can take action for Earth Hour. Whether you’re a social media fan or a hand-on organiser, you’re sure to find some inspiration  to get involved and/or spread the word on the official page of the campaign – www.earthhour.org
