Actions include the planting of no less than 400 000 acorn, oak and other autochthon seedlings over the next 18 months. The announcement of many helping hands of environmentally sensible Scouts was naturally welcomed with enthusiasm, recall Dobromir Draev, National Coordinator, and Yordan Dyankov, International Commissioner, from Организация на Българските Скаути (OBS, the National Scout Organisation in Bulgaria). And the Scouts will not limit their support of this project by planting hundreds of thousands of young trees. They have also agreed to provide the project further visibility with a special badge “I support the Black Sea Reforestation“, a message they envisage carrying across Bulgaria.

The initiative of the Scout Group to engage in this project also received support from Chief Scout Tihomir Radev and other members of the leadership of OBS. The area is ideally situated, as it is in close vicinity to Shumen, were OBS is currently busy completing the setting up of the “Shumen International Scout Centre”.
